This jam is full of sweetness and subtle spice. It pairs perfectly with Asif's Traveling Bread... and wasting some of it by chucking it at Asif's face might be the worst thing Casseus has ever done.

Ingredients:
2/3 c blueberries
1/3 c chopped strawberries
1/3 c granulated sugar
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp lemon juice

1/8 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 Tbsp water
Process:
Combine all ingredients except cornstarch and water in a medium saucepan. Then, heat on low to medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently. It should start to thicken and bubble. Once the fruit is soft enough, gently mash it (especially the blueberries). Don't worry about getting a super smooth texture- this is a rustic, homemade kind of jam!
Cook the mixture for about 15 more minutes, still stirring frequently. Mix the cornstarch and water to make a slurry, then add that to the saucepan. Stir well and let it cook for 3-5 more minutes.
Transfer your jam to a heat safe jar and let it sit until it's cool. This jam can be stored in the refrigerator for around a month, or in the freezer for up to three months. Enjoy on any bread (although Asif's Traveling Bread is recommended)!
The Inspiration:
They stopped for lunch at the base of a massive pine tree. Asif sat with his back to the trunk, placidly carving slices of bread from a small loaf and spreading a dark jam on them. Casseus stood with his arms crossed, glaring at his nonplussed guide. After a few moments, Asif looked up, his eyes scanning Casseus’ features...

“Well,” Asif replied after a few seconds, unable to hide a small, mischievous smile, “you have plenty of time to lay the groundwork of your figuring… because you’re still nowhere close to her.”
Casseus threw his second piece of bread and jam. The wet splat of it hitting Asif’s cheek was music to his ears.
